Ministry Licensed Program (The Dino Room)

Ratios 1:8 (1 ECE + 1 ECE Assistant)

Max Class Size: 16 kids

Eligibility: Students entering JK in September of the coming academic year

Priority: Will be given to children registered for Junior Kindergarten with UVA for September of the coming academic year.

The Preschool years are part of the same highly critical education and emotional development period as the Toddler level. However, within this period children transform themselves from the unconscious development of a toddler, to the conscious development of a preschooler. They begin to ask questions, to blossom with curiosity and express desire to learn about their environment. Their questions evolve from the Toddler version of “what’s that?” to questions like “why?” and “how?”. They are curious as to what makes the sky blue and why flowers only bloom for a short while. Utilizing their curiosity and inquiries helps us deliver a program that is engaging, dynamic and fun.

Our goal is to set children up for success. While we adhere to a daily schedule to help them adapt to the structure of school, our classroom is filled with developmental and academic opportunities for them to learn, observe and grow. They are challenged to ask questions and are assisted in finding the answers to their questions.

Together we engage and make contributions to the world around us. We build confidence, curiosity and work on necessary developmental skills for school readiness.

  • Letter, number & colour recognition
  • Building academic curiosity
  • Social & emotional regulation
  • Gradual reduction of nap times
  • Working towards toileting and dressing independence
  • Ease with transitions, and more.

Our kinder prep team is made up of skilled ECEs and ECAs who understand and demonstrate the importance and potential for learning in the early years. They are energetic, welcoming and passionate about their role in your child’s journey and are eager to share it with you.

As a Kinder Prep Parent, you will receive updates on how your child is progressing in each skill set and ideas for activities or suggestions that your family can do from home to help them excel.

Space in the Kinder Prep program is limited to 16 children and priority will be given to children who are registered with UVA for Junior Kindergarten of the coming academic year.
